This course is for educational purposes only and to improve your knowledge base in mental healthcare. It is not medical or psychiatric supervision. It is also not legal advice.

The course consists of a total of 6 modules. Module 1 consists of a short introduction to the course. Modules 2 and 3 pertain to etiology and treatment of Depression and Anxiety. It includes Medication Guides (which medications to use when, common side effects, contraindications, etc. - includes SSRIs, SNRIs, Anxiolytics, Atypical Antipsychotics, Mood Stabilizers) along with Lifestyle Modification handouts for patients in Module 4. You will have 1-2 page guides to keep as a resource in the clinic to refer to quickly (especially when you need to choose a medication for a patient efficiently/safely), and you will have PDF files that you can print/email for patients right at the visit for recommendations like Square Breathing, Therapy Resources, Behavioral Activation, etc. The medication guides in particular have been very popular with participants.

Module 5 pertains to Reproductive or Perinatal Psychiatry - what medications are safe in pregnancy, how to counsel pregnant patients effectively/safely (ensuring they feel empowered), and what symptoms/side effects to look out for. Module 6 is Smart Documentation - this comes with quick phrases you can incorporate into your EMR so it saves you time when documenting on patients with psychiatric diagnoses (common medication adverse effects, suicide risk assessment, etc.).

As a primary care physician, I am often faced with the challenge of managing patients with depression and anxiety who do not necessarily require specialist referrals. This course has been a game-changer in this regard. The course is beautifully crafted and written with a simplicity that makes it easy for practicing physicians to understand and apply. It provides a comprehensive approach to the management of common psychological disorders seen in primary care settings. What stands out particularly are the non-medicinal therapies and insomnia treatments that have proved to be immensely helpful. The concisely developed tables provided in the course have become an indispensable part of my daily practice. They are a quick reference guide that assists in making informed decisions about patient care. Moreover, the course also offers simple but effective handouts for patients, aiding them in better understanding their condition and the treatment plan.
